Their belief is that the same results could occur in human tissue as well. They caution smokers, especially, to refrain from the use of anti-oxidant pills if cancer has already begun to develop. Anti-oxidants, in their quest to fight free radicals, disable the body's defense mechanism fueling the disease. The research was determined by using the same amount of Vitamin E found in supplement pills.
According to Dr. Emma Smith, senior science communications officer at the Cancer Research UK, the study was done on mice and it is not clear what it means for people.
It is interesting to note, however, the published warning in the journal of Science Translational Medicine advises that this situation is unlikely to apply to vitamin-rich superfoods such as blueberries, as we would have to consume very large amounts to provide the level of anti-oxidants as contained in supplement pills. Another researcher advises that vitamins derived naturally from consuming fruits and vegetables would be the better choice.
So what are we to gather from this?
My thoughts are that as long as we gain most of our nutrients from naturally-occuring anti-oxidants in fruits and vegetables, instead of synthetic supplement pills, we should be on the right path.
CoffeeBerry is a patented technology which stabilizes the benefits naturally-occuring in the coffee fruit. Given the harsh conditions the coffee plants endure - being close to the Equator - nature provided an extremely effective protection mechanism for the coffee bean to thrive. This mucilage - known as the coffee fruit - is the red flesh that surrounds the coffee bean and is rich in vitamins and minerals.
Now, imagine teaming this fruit with 21 other natural superfoods such as blueberries, kale, strawberries, broccoli and pomegranate, to name a few?
I do not consume as much fruit and vegetables as I should, often because of time, preparation and cost. So for me, drinking 3-oz daily of this beverage covers what I lack in nutrition and I certainly feel a positive difference in my body.
Since research warns that it is safer to gain anti-oxidant protection through fruits and vegetables instead of supplement pills, I can't think of a better way to enhance my health. What are your thoughts?
